New York, NY, December 5, 2016 – ABO Capital, a leading international investment firm headquartered in Angola, announced today that its CEO Zandre Campos was featured in U.S. News and World Report discussing the importance of visa reform for Africa. The article entitled “Why Visa Reform is so Important for Africa” was originally published on U.S. News and World Report on October 31.
Travel on the continent is difficult for most Africans. Visas are required for more than half of the countries and often people from non-African countries can travel to African countries with greater ease. Earlier this year the African Union launched a national passport to eliminate visa requirements for Africans traveling to any country on the continent. The goal is to provide all African citizens with passports by 2020.
“Travel difficulties have a major impact on business, with intra-African trade costing more than any other region,” said Mr. Campos. “Instituting the national passport is the first step toward the African Union’s objective to create a free trade zone and a borderless Africa.”
With a young population, Africa’s workforce is growing. People need to travel freely to go to where the jobs are. Easing border restrictions and visa reform will move Africa’s 21st century growth.
Zandre Campos is the chairman and CEO of ABO Capital, a leading international investment firm in Angola. ABO Capital invests in companies in the energy, transportation, hospitality, healthcare, technology and real estate sectors.
